19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a challenging year, winning just one win at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from spring of 2023.

Success also means he has achieved 21 championships at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a championship is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

However the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an better serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first professional championship, took control to force a decider.

The opponent defended four initial break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
