PSG Edges Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious cup on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

Yet, Marseille fired twice in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the final moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
